English Translation

Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Bazazz narrated to us saying: Mu'alla ibn Asad narrated to us saying: Wuhayb narrated to us from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim from Alqamah ibn Waqqas from Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «Deeds are only by intentions, and every person will have only what they intended. So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Messenger, then his emigration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whoever emigrated for worldly gain or for a woman to marry, then his emigration was for that which he emigrated for.»
