English Translation
Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Dhuhli narrated to us saying: Ahmad ibn Salih al-Misri narrated to us saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us saying: Amr ibn al-Harith informed me that Sa'id ibn Abi Hilal informed him from Zayd ibn Ayyash from Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «Your appointed time in comparison to those before you is like the time between Asr prayer and sunset. The people of the Torah were given the Torah and they acted upon it until midday, then they were exhausted and were given a qirat each. Then the people of the Gospel were given the Gospel and they acted upon it until Asr prayer, then they were exhausted and were given a qirat each. Then we were given the Quran and we act upon it until sunset, and we are given two qirats.» The people of the two Books said: 'These are fewer in deed but greater in reward.' Allah, Majestic and Exalted, stated: «Do I wrong you in anything? This is My favor which I bestow upon whom I will.»
