وحَدَّثنا عَبد الله بن سَعِيد قَال حَدَّثنا أَبُو خَالِدٍ عَن الأَعمَش عَن الْحَكَمِ ومُسْلم البَطِين عَن سَعِيد بْنِ جُبَير وَعَطَاءٍ وَمُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُخْتِي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُخْتِكِ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتِ تَقْضِينَهُ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَحَقُّ اللَّهِ أَحَقُّ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُخْتِي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُخْتِكِ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتِ تَقْضِينَهُ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَحَقُّ اللَّهِ أَحَقُّ
English Translation
And Abdullah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Hakam and Muslim al-Batin, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, Ata, and Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), who said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: 'My sister has died and she had an obligation of fasting two consecutive months.' He said: 'Do you think that if your sister owed a debt, would you pay it on her behalf?' She said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then the right of Allah is more deserving [of being fulfilled].'
