حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نَا بُهْلُولُ بْنُ مُوَرِّقٍ قَالَ نَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ نُوَيْفِعٍ أَوْ نُفَيْعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي الَّذِي يَلْحَقُنِي عَلَى مَا عَاهَدْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ نُوَيْفِعٍ إِلَّا مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ وَمُوسَى كَانَ مِنْ خِيَارِ النَّاسِ وَعُبَّادِهِمْ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي الَّذِي يَلْحَقُنِي عَلَى مَا عَاهَدْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ نُوَيْفِعٍ إِلَّا مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ وَمُوسَى كَانَ مِنْ خِيَارِ النَّاسِ وَعُبَّادِهِمْ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Buhlul ibn Muwarriq narrated to us, he said: Musa ibn Ubaydah narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Nuwayfi' or Nufay' informed me, from Abdullah ibn Abbas, that Abu Dharr said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The most beloved of you to me and the closest of you to me is the one who meets me upon what I covenanted with him." This narration is not known to be reported except from Abu Dharr. We do not know of anyone narrating from al-Walid ibn Nuwayfi' except Musa ibn Ubaydah, and Musa was among the finest and most devout of people.
