حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ نَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَ نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ كِنَانَةَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقِيَ الْعَدُوَّ فَأَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَفْقِدُونَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ فِي الثَّانِي وَالثَّالِثِ قَالُوا لَا فَقَالَ لَكِنِّي أَفْقِدُ جُلَيْبِيبًا انْطَلِقُوا فَالْتَمَسُوهُ فِي الْقَتْلَى فَالْتَمَسُوهُ فَوَجَدُوهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَبْعَةٍ قَدْ قَتَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ فَأَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُخْبِرَ فَجَاءَ حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ هَذَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ قَتَلَ سَبْعَةً ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ هَذَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ يَقُولُهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ حَمَلَهُ عَلَى سَاعِدَيْهِ مَا لَهُ سَصلى الله عليه وسلم حِيرٌ غَيْرُ سَاعِدَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى حُفِرَ لَهُ وَدُفِنَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ غُسْلًا هَلْ تَفْقِدُونَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ فِي الثَّانِي وَالثَّالِثِ قَالُوا لَا فَقَالَ لَكِنِّي أَفْقِدُ جُلَيْبِيبًا انْطَلِقُوا فَالْتَمَسُوهُ فِي الْقَتْلَى فَالْتَمَسُوهُ فَوَجَدُوهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَبْعَةٍ قَدْ قَتَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ فَأَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُخْبِرَ فَجَاءَ حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ هَذَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ قَتَلَ سَبْعَةً ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ هَذَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ يَقُولُهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ حَمَلَهُ عَلَى سَاعِدَيْهِ مَا لَهُ سَصلى الله عليه وسلم حِيرٌ غَيْرُ سَاعِدَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى حُفِرَ لَهُ وَدُفِنَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ غُسْلًا
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ma'mar narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Walid Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit, from Kinanah ibn Nu'aym, from Abu Barzah, may Allah be well pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, encountered the enemy and Allah granted him victory. He asked a second and third time: "Do you find anyone missing?" They said: "No." He said: "But I find Julaybib missing. Go and look for him among the slain." They searched for him and found him beside seven men whom he had killed before they killed him. The Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, was informed and came and stood over him and said: "He is of me and I am of him. He killed seven then they killed him. He is of me and I am of him" — saying it twice. Then he carried him on his forearms — he had no bed other than the forearms of the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him — until a grave was dug for him and he was buried. He did not mention a ritual washing.
