حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ نَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ أَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَبْعَثُنَا فِي السَّرِيَّةِ مَا لَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا السَّلَفُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ فَنَقَبْضُ قَبْضَةً قَبْضَةً حَتَّى نَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى تَمْرَةٍ تَمْرَةٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَبْعَثُنَا فِي السَّرِيَّةِ مَا لَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا السَّلَفُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ فَنَقَبْضُ قَبْضَةً قَبْضَةً حَتَّى نَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى تَمْرَةٍ تَمْرَةٍ
English Translation
Yusuf ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Yazid narrated to us, he said: al-Mas'udi informed us, from Abu Bakr ibn Hafs, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, from his father, may Allah be well pleased with him, who said: The Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, would send us on military expeditions, and our only food was handfuls of dates. We would take a handful at a time until we would end up with only one date each.
