وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ نَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ احْفَظْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا ثُمَّ عَرِّضْهَا سَنَةً ثُمَّ إِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ احْفَظْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا ثُمَّ عَرِّضْهَا سَنَةً ثُمَّ إِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Rabi'ah ibn Abi 'Abd al-Rahman, from Yazid the freed slave of al-Munba'ith, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be well pleased with him, that a man asked the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, about lost property. He said: "Remember its container and its wrapping, then announce it for a year. Then if its owner comes, return it to him."
