English Translation
Ahmad narrated to us, Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz ibn Imran narrated to us, he said: Rifa'ah ibn Yahya narrated to us, from Mu'adh ibn Rifa'ah ibn Rafi', from his father, may Allah be well pleased with him, who said: On the day of Badr, the people gathered around Umayyah ibn Khalaf. I approached him and noticed a gap in his armor that had come loose from under his armpit, so I thrust at him with the sword. I was also struck on the day of Badr by an arrow and my eye was put out. The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, spat on it and supplicated for it, and nothing ever bothered me from it after that. He said: This hadith - we do not know anyone who narrates it from the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, except Rifa'ah ibn Rafi', and we do not know of any route from Rifa'ah except this route.
