English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: al-Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Hammad narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father. And Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Ansari narrated to us, he said: al-Ash'ath narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Bakrah, may Allah be well pleased with him, that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I saw as if a scale was lowered from the sky, and you were weighed against Abu Bakr, and you outweighed Abu Bakr. Then Abu Bakr was weighed against Umar, and Abu Bakr outweighed Umar. Then Umar was weighed against Uthman, and Umar outweighed Uthman. Then the scale was raised." The Messenger of Allah interpreted it saying: "A caliphate of prophethood, then Allah grants dominion to whomever He wills." This hadith, its statement has been narrated from the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him. Abu Bakrah and Safinah and others narrated it. Abu Bakrah has another route; this chain is better than the other chain narrated from Abu Bakrah, which is what Ash'ath narrated from al-Hasan from Abu Bakrah.
