English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna and Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, they said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us from Amr ibn Murrah from Asim al-Anazi from Ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im from his father. And Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated it to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, he said: Husayn narrated to us from Amr ibn Murrah from Abbad ibn Asim al-Anazi from Nafi' ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im from his father (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) when he entered the prayer say: 'Allah is the Greatest, greatly; all praise belongs to Allah abundantly; and glory be to Allah morning and evening. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Satan — from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.' Amr ibn Murrah said: His 'madness' means epilepsy, his 'arrogance' means pride or haughtiness, and his 'poetry' means verse. This hadith — we do not know of anyone who narrates it from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except Jubayr ibn Mut'im, and we do not know of any chain for it except this chain. They differed regarding the name of al-Anazi who narrated it from Nafi' ibn Jubayr: Shu'bah said from Amr 'from Asim al-Anazi'; Ibn Fudayl said from Husayn from Amr 'from Abbad ibn Asim'; and Za'idah said from Husayn from Amr 'from Ammar ibn Asim.' The man is not well-known, and we mentioned it because no one narrates these words other than him from Nafi' ibn Jubayr from his father, nor is it narrated from anyone else from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).
