حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ صِلَةَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَخَذَنِي وَأَبِي الْمُشْرِكُونَ وَنَحْنُ نُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَقَالُوا أَيْنَ تُرِيدُونَ قُلْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ تُرِيدُونَ مُحَمَّدًا فَأَعْطُونَا عَهْدَ اللَّهِ وَمِيثَاقَهُ أَلَّا تُقَاتِلُونَ مَعَهُ وَلَتَنْصَرِفُنَّ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَأَعْطَيْنَاهُمْ مَا أَرَادُوا فَخَلَّوْا سَبِيلَنَا ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ الْخَبَرَ فَقَالَ فُوا لَهُمْ بِعَهْدِهِمْ وَنَسْتَعِينُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي مَنَعَنَا أَنْ نَشْهَدَ بَدْرًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ صِلَةَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ إِلَّا الْحَجَّاجُ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'bah, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said: 'The ruin of my nation is through the book and the milk.' They said: 'What do you mean by the book and the milk, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'They learn the Qur'an and interpret it not as Allah intended, and they love the milk and leave the congregations and the Friday prayer and go to the countryside.'
