حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعُقَيْلِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطُّفَاوِيُّ عَنِ الْخَلِيلِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ يُخَامِرَ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَعَرَّضْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ تَصَدَّيْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ غَفْرًا سَلْ عَنِ الْخَيْرِ وَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنِ الشَّرِّ شِرَارُ النَّاسِ شِرَارُ الْعُلَمَاءِ فِي النَّاسِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn 'Uthman al-'Uqayli narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Tufawi informed us, from al-Khalil ibn Murrah, from Thawr ibn Yazid, from Khalid ibn Ma'dan, from Malik ibn Yukhamir, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I presented myself to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or I positioned myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he held my hand and said: 'O Mu'adh, I love you.' I said: 'And I love you, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'I advise you, O Mu'adh: do not leave off saying at the end of every prayer: O Allah, help me to remember You, thank You, and worship You well.'
