حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ أَخُو مُبَارَكِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سَالِمُ أَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صُومُوا مِنْ وَضَحٍ إِلَى وَضَحٍ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ يَرْوِي نَحْوَ كَلَامَهُ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ
English Translation
Amr ibn Malik narrated to us, he said: Abu Qutaybah informed us, he said: al-Mufaddal ibn Fadalah, the brother of Mubarak ibn Fadalah, informed us, he said: Salim Abu 'Ubaydillah ibn Salim informed us, from Abu al-Malih, from his father (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Fast from one crescent to the next crescent (i.e., from the sighting of one new moon to the next).' We do not know of anyone who narrated it with this wording except through this route, although something similar in meaning has been narrated. We do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith except Abu Qutaybah.
