حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ مَسْجِدَ الطَّائِفِ حَيْثُ كَانَتْ طَاغِيَتُهُمْ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى إِلَّا عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ
English Translation
Bishr ibn Mu'adh al-'Aqadi narrated to us, he said: Abu Hammam informed us, he said: Sa'id ibn al-Sa'ib al-Ta'ifi informed us, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn 'Iyad, from 'Uthman ibn Abi al-'As (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to place the mosque of Ta'if where their idol used to stand. We do not know this hadith to be narrated except from 'Uthman ibn Abi al-'As with this chain.
