حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقُطَعِيُّ قَالَا نا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ قَبْضَ عَبْدٍ بِأَرْضٍ جَعَلَ لَهُ إِلَيْهَا حَاجَةً وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَّا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيِّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ قَبْضَ عَبْدٍ بِأَرْضٍ جَعَلَ لَهُ إِلَيْهَا حَاجَةً وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَّا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيِّ
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Thabit al-Jahdari and Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Quta'i narrated to us, they both stated: Umar ibn Ali narrated to us, he stated: Isma'il narrated to us from Qays from Hadrat Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with him), he stated: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «When Allah intends to take the soul of a servant in a land, He makes for him a need to go there.» This hadith — we do not know anyone who raises it except Umar ibn Ali al-Muqaddami.
