أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ هِلَالِ شَعْبَانَ مَا لَا يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ رَمَضَانَ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْهِ عَدَّ ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ صَامَ وَكَذَلِكَ
English Translation
A Bedouin came and testified that he saw the crescent moon. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Do you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Yes.' So the Prophet ordered Bilal to announce to the people to fast.
