أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَائِرَ الرَّأْسِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنِي مَاذَا فَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ الصَّلَوَاتُ الْخَمْسُ إِلَّا أَنْ تَطَوَّعَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ أَخْبِرْنِي مَا فَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الصِّيَامِ؟ فَقَالَ صِيَامُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَتَطَوَّعَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ أَخْبِرْنِي مَاذَا فَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ؟ قَالَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَرَائِعِ الْإِسْلَامِ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ لَا أَتَطَوَّعُ شَيْئًا وَلَا أَنْقُصُ مِمَّا فَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَفْلَحَ وَأَبِيهِ إِنْ صَدَقَ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَاللهِ إِنْ صَدَقَ
English Translation
A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) with disheveled hair and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, tell me what Allah has made obligatory upon me of prayer.' He said: 'The five prayers, unless you voluntarily add more.' He said: 'Tell me what Allah has made obligatory upon me of fasting.' He said: 'Fasting the month of Ramadan, unless you voluntarily add more.' He said: 'Tell me what Allah has made obligatory upon me of zakat.' He told him about the obligations of Islam. The Bedouin said: 'By the One who honored you, I will not do anything voluntary, nor will I decrease anything that Allah has made obligatory upon me.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'He will succeed, by his father, if he is truthful — he will enter Paradise, by Allah, if he is truthful.'
