أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي وَغَيْرُهُ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ؓ كَانَ يَقُولُ هَذَا شَهْرُ زَكَاتِكُمْ فَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَلْيُؤَدِّ دَيْنَهُ حَتَّى تُحَصَّلَ أَمْوَالُكُمْ فَتُؤَدُّونَ مِنْهَا الزَّكَاةَ
English Translation
Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq al-Muzakki and others informed us... from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid that Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: 'This is the month of your zakah. Whoever has a debt, let him pay his debt so that your wealth may be settled and you can pay the zakah from it.'
