Abu Ali al-Rudhbari informed us: Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Ahmad ibn Shawdhab narrated to us: Shu'ayb ibn Ayyub narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Ansari narrated to us: My father Abdullah ibn al-Muthanna narrated to me: Thumama ibn Abdullah ibn Anas narrated to me that Anas narrated to him that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote this document when he sent him to Bahrain: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. These are the obligatory rates of charity which Allah prescribed upon the Muslims and which Allah commanded His Messenger (peace be upon him). Whoever is asked for it according to its proper rate among the Muslims should give it, and whoever is asked for more than that should not give. He said: And he mentioned the hadith to the end, including: And in silver, a quarter of one-tenth. If the wealth is only one hundred and ninety, there is no charity on it unless its owner wishes.
