English Translation
Mu'adh ibn Jabal narrated: 'When my son died, the Prophet (peace be upon him) wrote to me consoling me: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad the Messenger of Allah to Mu'adh ibn Jabal. Peace be upon you. I praise Allah, beside whom there is no god. To proceed: May Allah magnify your reward and grant you patience, and grant us and you gratitude. Our lives, our wealth, and our families are among the pleasant gifts of Allah, entrusted to us temporarily. Allah gives enjoyment for an appointed term, then takes when He wills. He has enjoined upon us gratitude when He gives and patience when He tests."'
