أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؓ أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَتْ حَدَّثَنِي نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ عَذَابٌ يَبْعَثُهُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ يَشَاءُ فَجَعَلَهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَلَيْسَ عَبْدٌ يَقَعُ الطَّاعُونُ فَيُقِيمُ بِبَلَدِهِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَنْ يُصِيبَهُ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ شَهِيدٍ
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said about the plague: 'It is a punishment that Allah sends upon whom He wills, but He has made it a mercy for the believers. No servant remains in a land where plague has occurred, staying out of faith and seeking reward, knowing that nothing will befall him except what Allah has decreed for him, except that he will have the reward of a martyr.'
