Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn b. Dāwud al-ʿAlawī ؒ Imlāʾ > Abū Ḥāmid Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan al-Ḥāfiẓ Amlāh ʿAlaynā from Ḥifẓih > Muḥammad b. Yaḥyá al-Dhuhlī > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > Manṣūr > al-Aʿmash > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْعَلَوِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ إِمْلَاءً ثنا أَبُو حَامِدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْحَافِظُ أَمْلَاهُ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ حِفْظِهِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الذُّهْلِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْجَنَّةُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ شِرَاكِ نَعْلِهِ وَالنَّارُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Dawud al-Alawi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to us by dictation... from Sufyan, from Mansur, from al-A'mash, from Abu Wa'il, from Abdullah [ibn Mas'ud] who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Paradise is closer to one of you than the strap of his sandal, and the Hellfire is likewise.'
