أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ الْفَضْلِ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُخْبِرَ أَنَّ أَبَا لُبَابَةَ يَقُولُ لِلسَّمَاءِ أَمِدِّي يَدْعُو بِالْجَدْبِ لِنَفَاقِ ثَمَرَةِ نَخْلِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اللهُمَّ أَرْسِلْهَا حَتَّى يَسُدَّ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ ثَعْلَبَ مِرْبَدِهِ بِرِدَائِهِ فَأَرْسَلَ اللهُ السَّمَاءَ فَلَمَّا صَارَ السَّيْلُ بِثَمَرِ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ وَهُوَ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ اضْطُرَّ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ إِلَى إِزَارِهِ فَسَدَّ بِهِ ثَعْلَبَ الْمِرْبَدِ
English Translation
Abu Sa'id Muhammad ibn Musa narrated to us... from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was informed that Abu Lubabah was saying to the sky: 'Pour down!' - wishing for drought so his dates would sell for higher prices. The Messenger of Allah said: 'O Allah, send it until Abu Lubabah plugs the drain hole of his storage yard with his garment.' Allah sent rain, and when the flood reached Abu Lubabah's dates while they were in the storage yard, Abu Lubabah was forced to use his lower garment to plug the drain hole of the yard.
