English Translation
Abu Bakr ibn al-Harith al-Faqih informed us... from Muhammad ibn Muqatil... from Hakkam, from Abu Ja'far al-Razi, from Qatadah, from Abu al-'Aliyah who said: 'Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in the prayer of fear in Isfahan.' Hattan al-Raqashi also narrated from Abu Musa that he performed the prayer of fear. It is also mentioned from Ja'far ibn Muhammad from his father that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) performed the Maghrib prayer as a prayer of fear on the night of al-Harir. And we narrated from Sahl ibn Abi Hathmah that he taught them the prayer of fear. And Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), when asked about the prayer of fear, would describe it. Those who narrated it from the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not consider it specific to the Prophet or that it was abrogated; rather, each of them narrated it believing in its continued permissibility in the manner they described. And with Allah is success.
