أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْأَسَدِيُّ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ ثنا مُحَارِبُ بْنُ دِثَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ يَقُولُ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ بِنَاضِحَيْنِ وَقَدْ جَنَحَ اللَّيْلُ فَوَافَقَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ فَتَرَكَ نَاضِحَيْهِ وَأَقْبَلَ إِلَى مُعَاذٍ لِيُصَلِّيَ مَعَهُ فَقَرَأَ مُعَاذٌ الْبَقَرَةَ وَالنِّسَاءَ فَانْطَلَقَ الرَّجُلُ وَبَلَغَهُ أَنَّ مُعَاذًا أَنَالَ مِنْهُ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ مُعَاذًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَفَاتِنٌ أَنْتَ أَوْ قَالَ أَفَتَّانٌ أَنْتَ؟ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ فَلَوْلَا صَلَّيْتَ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى فَإِنَّهُ يُصَلِّي وَرَاءَكَ الْكَبِيرُ وَذُو الْحَاجَةِ وَالضَّعِيفُ
English Translation
Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari said: 'A man came with two camels used for irrigation at nightfall and found Mu'adh ibn Jabal praying Maghrib. He left his camels and joined Mu'adh for prayer. Mu'adh recited al-Baqarah and al-Nisa, so the man left. He was told that Mu'adh had spoken against him, so he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and complained about Mu'adh. The Prophet said: Are you a troublemaker? - three times - Why did you not pray with Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High, and By the sun and its brightness, and By the night when it covers? For behind you pray the elderly, those with needs, and the weak.'
