وَاحْتَجَّ بِمَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ ؓ أَمَّ النَّاسَ بِالْمَدَائِنِ عَلَى دُكَّانٍ فَأَخَذَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ بِقَمِيصِهِ فَجَبَذَهُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَالَ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُنْهَوْنَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ قَالَ أَوْ لَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُنْهَى عَنْ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَدْ ذَكَرْتُ حِينَ مَدَدْتَنِي وَرَوَاهُ زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَكَّائِيُّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ بِمَعْنَى رِوَايَةِ يَعْلَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَقُومَ الْإِمَامُ فَوْقَ وَيَبْقَى النَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ 5233 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَذَكَرَهُ وَرُوِيَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ مُسْنَدًا مَعَ اخْتِلَافٍ فِيهِ لِهَذَا
English Translation
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer at al-Mada'in on an elevated platform. Abu Mas'ud grabbed his shirt and pulled him. When he finished his prayer, he said: 'Did you not know that they used to be forbidden from that?' He said: 'Yes, I remembered when you pulled me.' It was also narrated by Ziyad ibn Abdullah al-Bakka'i from al-A'mash with a similar meaning, except that Abu Mas'ud said to him: 'Did you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the imam from standing above while the people remain behind him below?'
