English Translation
Aishah narrated: "The people complained to the Messenger of Allah about the lack of rain. He commanded a pulpit to be set up at the prayer ground. He set a day for the people to come out, and he went out when the sun appeared. He sat on the pulpit, glorified Allah, then said: 'You have complained about the dryness of your land. Allah has ordered you to supplicate and promised He would respond.' Then he said: 'All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. There is no god but Allah who does what He wills. O Allah, You are Allah, there is no god but You. You are the Self-Sufficient and we are the poor. Send rain upon us and make what You send down for us strength and provision for a time.' He then raised his hands until the whiteness of his armpits was visible. He turned his back to the people and reversed his cloak while raising his hands. He then faced the people, came down and prayed two rak'ahs. Allah then produced a cloud, and there was thunder and lightning, and it rained by Allah's permission."
