وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَقُلْ اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَارْحَمْ مُحَمَّدًا وَآلَ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ وَبَارَكْتَ وَتَرَحَّمْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ كَذَا قَالَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us... from Ibn Mas'ud, from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who said: 'When one of you recites the tashahhud in prayer, let him say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, and bless Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, and have mercy upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings, blessed, and had mercy upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.' This is how Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) stated it, and Allah knows best.
