English Translation
Abu Tamimah al-Hujaymi said: I used to tell stories after the Fajr prayer and prostrate, and Ibn Umar forbade me. I did not stop, three times. Then he came back and said: I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and with Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them), and they did not prostrate until the sun rose. If this is established as marfu', then it is preferred to delay the prostration until the time of prohibition passes. If the marfu' is not established, then it is as if he compared it to voluntary prayer. And we shall demonstrate, God willing, the exception of what has a cause from the general prohibition. And it is mentioned from Ata', Salim, al-Qasim, and Ikrimah that they permitted prostration after Fajr and after Asr. And it is established that Ka'b ibn Malik prostrated in gratitude after the Fajr prayer when he heard the glad tidings of his repentance being accepted, and that was in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
