أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي الْقِبْلَةِ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى رُئِيَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَامَ فَحَكَّهَا بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا قَامَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ وَإِنَّ رَبَّهُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَلَا يَبْصُقَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي قِبْلَتِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِطَرَفِ رِدَائِهِ فَبَصَقَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ رَدَّ بَعْضَهُ إِلَى بَعْضٍ فَقَالَ أَوْ يَفْعَلُ كَذَا
English Translation
Abu al-Hasan al-Muqri informed us, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, Yusuf ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Abu al-Rabi' narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Humayd al-Tawil narrated to us from Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw mucus on the qiblah and it was so distressing to him that it was visible on his face. He stood and scraped it with his hand, then said: 'When one of you stands in his prayer, he is conversing privately with his Lord, and his Lord is between him and the qiblah. So let none of you spit toward his qiblah, but to his left or under his foot.' Then he took the edge of his cloak and spat in it, folded it back, and said: 'Or he should do like this.'
