وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ سُفْيَانُ ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُمَرَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنَّ اللهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ قَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ وَاللهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا بَعْدُ ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا
English Translation
Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The similitude of a good companion and a bad one is that of a seller of musk and a blacksmith's bellows. From the seller of musk, you either buy some or enjoy its fragrance. As for the blacksmith's bellows, it either burns your house or your clothes, or you get a foul smell from it.'
