وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو سَهْلِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَخْبَرَتْنَا أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَخْبَرَتْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مُكْفَأَتَانِ وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ
English Translation
Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl al-Qattan in Baghdad informed us > Abu Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Qattan > Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal > my father > Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal Abu Isma'il > Abdullah ibn Uthman ibn Khuthaym > Yusuf ibn Mahak said: We entered upon Hafsah bint Abd al-Rahman, and she informed us that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed her that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'For the boy, two equivalent sheep, and for the girl, one sheep.'
