أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّزَّازُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى مَنْ ضَحَّى مِنْكُمْ فَلَا يُصْبِحَنَّ مِنْ أُضْحِيَّتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ بَعْدَ ثَالِثَةٍ شَيْءٌ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الْمُقْبِلُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَفْعَلُ فِي هَذَا الْعَامِ كَمَا فَعَلْنَا فِي الْعَامِ الْمَاضِي؟ فَقَالَ لَا كُلُوا وَأَطْعِمُوا وَادَّخِرُوا فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ الْعَامَ كَانَ فِيهِ شِدَّةٌ أَوْ كَلِمَةً تُشْبِهُهَا فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ تَقْسِمُوا فِي النَّاسِ
English Translation
Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran al-'Adl informed us in Baghdad, Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Amr al-Razzaz informed us, Yahya ibn Ja'far narrated to us, al-Dahhak ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Yazid ibn Abi Ubayd narrated to us from Salamah ibn al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the Day of Sacrifice: "Whoever among you has sacrificed, let there not remain in his house anything from his sacrifice after the third day." When the following year came, they said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall we do this year as we did last year?" He said: "No. Eat, feed others, and store, for that year there was hardship" - or a similar word - "and I wanted you to distribute among the people."
