أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبَايَةَ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ؓ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّا لَنَرْجُو أوْ نَخْشَى أَنْ نَلْقَى الْعَدُوَّ وَلَيْسَ مَعَنْا مُدًى أَفَنَذْبَحُ بِالْقَصَبِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا أَنْهَرَ الدَّمَ وَذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ فَكُلُوهُ إِلَّا السِّنَّ وَالظُّفُرَ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz, Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Hasan the judge, and Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq informed us, they said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub informed us, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam informed us, Ibn Wahb informed us, Sufyan ibn Sa'id informed me from his father from Abayah from Rafi' ibn Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) who said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "We hope - or fear - that we may encounter the enemy and we have no knives. May we slaughter with reeds?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever causes the blood to flow and the name of Allah is mentioned over it, eat it, except for teeth and claws."
