English Translation
Abu Ahmad al-Mihrajani al-Adl informed us, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Muzakki informed us, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Bushanji narrated to us, Ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Malik narrated to us from Umarah ibn Sayyad, from Ata' ibn Yasar, that Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to sacrifice a single sheep - the man would slaughter it on behalf of himself and his household. Then people began to compete, and it became a matter of boasting.
