أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَقِيلِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَصِيبِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي قَيْسِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ؓ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْأَضْحَى فَقَالَ أَكْرَهُ أَوِ اجْتَنِبْ شَكَّ وَهْبِ الْعُورَ الْبَيِّنَ عَوَرُهَا وَالْعَرْجَاءَ الْبَيِّنَ عَرَجُهَا وَالْمَرِيضَةَ الْبَيِّنَ مَرَضُهَا وَالْمَهْزُولَةَ الْبَيِّنَ هُزَالُهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَعَلَّكَ تَحْسَبُ حَتْمًا؟ قُلْتُ لَا وَلَكِنَّهُ أَجْرٌ وَخَيْرٌ وَسُنَّةٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَلَا يَعْدُو الْقَوْلُ فِي الضَّحَايَا هَذَا أَوْ تَكُونُ وَاجِبَةً فَهِيَ عَلَى كُلِّ أَحَدٍ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ لَا يُجْزِي غَيْرُ شَاةٍ عَنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Marzuq narrated to us, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Aqil ibn Talhah, from Abu al-Khasib - a man from Banu Qays ibn Tha'labah - who said: I witnessed Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man asked him about something regarding the sacrifice. He said: Avoid - or stay away from (Wahb was unsure) - the one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, the lame one whose lameness is obvious, the sick one whose illness is obvious, and the emaciated one whose emaciation is obvious. Then Ibn Umar said to him: Perhaps you think it is obligatory? He said: No, but it is a reward, a good deed, and a Sunnah. He said: Yes. Al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The ruling on sacrifices cannot be other than this, or they would be obligatory on everyone, young and old, and nothing less than a sheep would suffice for each person.
