أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا تُرِيحُنِي مِنْ ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ وَكَانُوا يُسَمُّونَهَا كَعْبَةَ الْيَمَانِيَةَ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْتُ فِي خَمْسِينَ وَمِائَةِ فَارِسٍ مِنْ أَحْمَسَ وَكُنْتُ لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ فِي صَدْرِي حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى أَثَرِ أَصَابِعِهِ فِي صَدْرِي فَقَالَ اللهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ وَاجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ فَكَسَرَهَا وَحَرَّقَهَا بِالنَّارِ ثُمَّ بَعَثَ حُصَيْنَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُبَشِّرُهُ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا جِئْتُكَ حَتَّى تَرَكْتُهَا مِثْلَ الْجَمَلِ الْأَجْرَبِ فَبَارَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى خَيْلِ أَحْمَسَ وَرِجَالِهَا خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us > Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub > Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya > Musaddad > Yahya > Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid > Qays ibn Abi Hazim, who said: Jarir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me: "Will you not relieve me of Dhu al-Khalasah?" — they used to call it the Yemeni Ka'bah. He said: So I set out with one hundred and fifty horsemen from Ahmas, and I could not sit firmly on horses. I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he struck my chest with his hand until I could see the marks of his fingers on my chest, and he said: "O Allah, make him firm and make him a guide who is rightly guided." He then went and smashed it and burned it with fire. Then he sent Husayn ibn Rabi'ah to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to give him the good news, and he said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I did not come to you until I left it like a mangy camel." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) blessed the horses and men of Ahmas five times.
