أَمَّا حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ فَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبِرْتِيُّ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَفَّانُ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ لَقَدْ سَقَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَدَحِي هَذَا الشَّرَابَ كُلَّهُ الْعَسَلَ وَالنَّبِيذَ وَالْمَاءَ وَاللَّبَنَ
English Translation
Narrations about the repentance of the highway robber — if he repents before being captured, the hadd is waived. The verse states: "Except those who repent before you have power over them — know that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful" (al-Ma'idah 5:34). This exception encourages criminals to surrender and reform.
