وَأَمَّا الْأَثَرُ الَّذِي أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الثَّقَفِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ أُتِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ بِسَارِقٍ قَدْ سَرَقَ ثَوْبًا قَالَ فَقَالَ لِعُثْمَانَ ؓ قَوِّمْهُ فَقَوَّمَهُ ثَمَانِيَةَ دَرَاهِمَ فَلَمْ يَقْطَعْهُ
English Translation
Narrations about the permissibility of hunting with various types of trained animals — dogs, falcons, and other birds of prey. The condition is that the animal must be trained, the hunter must mention Allah's name when releasing it, and the animal must catch the prey for the hunter rather than eating it itself.
