أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَيُّوبَ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا قَالَ بِقَوْلِ الْحَسَنِ فِي أَمْرُكِ بِيَدِكِ أَنَّهُ ثَلَاثٌ؟ فَقَالَ لَا إِلَّا شَيْءٌ حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ قَتَادَةُ عَنْ كَثِيرٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِنَحْوِهِ قَالَ أَيُّوبُ فَقَدِمَ ع��لَيْنَا كَثِيرٌ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ مَا حَدَّثْتُ بِهِ قَطُّ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِقَتَادَةَ فَقَالَ بَلَى وَلَكِنْ قَدْ نُسِيَ كَثِيرٌ هَذَا لَمْ يَثْبُتْ مِنْ مَعْرِفَتِهِ مَا يُوجِبُ قَبُولَ رِوَايَتِهِ وَقَوْلُ الْعَامَّةِ بِخِلَافِ رِوَايَتِهِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
English Translation
Ayyub said to Hammad ibn Zayd: Do you know anyone who held al-Hasan's view that 'your affair is in your hand' counts as three divorces? He said: No, except something that Qatadah narrated from Kathir, the freed slave of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah, from Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a similar meaning. Ayyub said: Kathir came to us, and I asked him, and he said: I never narrated it. I mentioned this to Qatadah, who said: Indeed he did, but Kathir has forgotten. This was not established from his knowledge in a way that necessitates accepting his narration, and the general view of scholars contradicts his narration. And Allah knows best.
