وَالْأُخْرَى مَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ أنا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ أنا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو السَّفَرِ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ التَّخْيِيرِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ خَيَّرَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَقَالَ تَطْلِيقَةٌ وَزَوْجُهَا أَحَقُّ بِرَجْعَتِهَا قُلْنَا فَإِنِ اخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَهَا؟ قَالَ فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ قُلْنَا فَإِنَّ نَاسًا يَرْوُونَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنِ اخْتَارَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَتَطْلِيقَةٌ وَزَوْجُهَا أَحَقُّ بِهَا أَيْ بِرَجْعَتِهَا وَإِنِ اخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا فَتَطْلِيقَةٌ بَائِنَةٌ وَهِيَ أَمْلَكُ بِنَفْسِهَا قَالَ هَذَا وَجَدُوهُ فِي الصُّحُفِ وَأَمَّا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَالصَّحِيحُ عَنْهُ مَا رَوَيْنَا
English Translation
The other narration: Abu Ishaq said: Abu al-Safar and I entered upon Abu Ja'far and asked him about the giving of choice - a man who gave his wife the choice and she chose herself. He said: One divorce and her husband has more right to take her back. We said: What if she chose her husband? He said: It is nothing. We said: Some people narrate from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: If she chose her husband, it is one divorce and her husband has more right to her, and if she chose herself, it is an irrevocable divorce and she is in control of herself. He said: They found this in the scrolls. As for Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, the authentic narration from him is what we have already mentioned.
