أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ الْقَصِيرِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ لَمْ يُنْكِحْهَا الْوَلِيُّ أَوِ الْوُلَاةُ فَنِكَاحُهَا بَاطِلٌ
English Translation
Aishah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to divide his time equally among his wives, then would say: "O Allah, this is my division in what I control. Do not blame me for what You control and I do not" — meaning the heart's inclination.
