وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ ثنا الدَّارِمِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ح قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرٍو وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ غَنَمًا بَيْنَ جَبَلَيْنِ فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ فَأَتَى قَوْمَهُ فَقَالَ أَيْ قَوْمِ أَسْلِمُوا فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا لَيُعْطِي عَطَاءً مَا يَخَافُ الْفَقْرَ فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ إنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَيُسْلِمُ مَا يُرِيدُ إِلَّا الدُّنْيَا فَمَا يُسْلِمُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْإِسْلَامُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا عَلَيْهَا
English Translation
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) for sheep enough to fill the space between two mountains, and the Prophet gave it to him. The man went to his people and said: 'O my people, accept Islam, for by Allah, Muhammad gives like one who does not fear poverty.' A man would accept Islam wanting only the worldly gain, but soon Islam would become more beloved to him than the entire world and everything in it."
