أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ الزَّاهِدُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ الْمَالِكِيُّ بِالرِّيِّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ بِمِصْرَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الدَّيْلَمِيِّ أَنَّ يَعْلَى بْنَ مُنْيَةَ قَالَ أَذِنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْغَزْوِ وَأَنَا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَيْسَ لِي خَادِمٌ فَالْتَمَسْتُ أَجِيرًا وَأُجْرِي لَهُ سَهْمَهُ فَوَجَدْتُ رَجُلًا فَلَمَّا دَنَا الرَّحِيلُ أَتَانِي فَقَالَ مَا أَدْرِي مَا السُّهْمَانُ وَمَا يَبْلُغُ سَهْمِي فَسَمِّ لِي شَيْئًا كَانَ السَّهْمُ أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فَسَمَّيْتُ لَهُ ثَلَاثَةَ دَنَانِيرَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتْ غَنِيمَةٌ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُجْرِيَ لَهُ سَهْمَهُ فَذَكَرْتُ الدَّنَانِيرَ فَجِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ أَمْرَهُ فَقَالَ مَا أَجِدُ لَهُ فِي غَزْوَتِهِ هَذِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ وَالْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا دَنَانِيرَهُ الَّتِي سَمَّى
English Translation
Ya'la ibn Munyah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) announced a military expedition while I was an old man with no servant. I sought a hired man and offered him my share of the spoils. I found a man, and when departure drew near, he came to me and said: 'I do not know what the shares are or what my share will amount to. Name me a fixed amount, whether there is a share or not.' So I named him three dinars. When spoils came, I wanted to give him his share, but I remembered the dinars. I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and mentioned his case. He said: 'I find nothing for him in this expedition of his, in this world and - I think he said - the Hereafter, except his dinars that he named.'
