English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id informed us: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Rawh narrated to us: Malik narrated to us from Hisham ibn Urwah from his father from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): She said: Barirah came to me seeking help for her manumission contract. Aisha said: Go back to your masters, and if they agree that I pay your price and your patronage will be mine, I will do so. Her masters said: No, unless the patronage is for us. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Buy her and free her, for the patronage belongs to the one who frees.
