حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الطَّوَّافَ عَلَيْكُمْ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ.
English Translation
Waki' told us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The needy one is not the one who goes about to you, whom a mouthful or two of food turns away; rather, the needy one is the one who abstains from asking."
