حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى السَّعْدِيِّينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ رِجَالًا يَسْتَنْفِرُونَ عَشَائِرَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ الْخَيْرَ الْخَيْرَ وَالْمَدِينَةُ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَا يَصْبِرُ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا وَشِدَّتِهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَنْفِي أَهْلَهَا كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا أَحَدٌ رَاغِبًا عَنْهَا إِلَّا أَبْدَلَهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَيْرًا مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Ibn Numair narrated to us, who said: Hashim ibn Hashim narrated to us, who said: Abu Salih, the freed slave of al-Sa'diyyin, narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Men are urging their clans to leave, saying: 'Go to the better place, go to the better place!' But Madinah is better for them if only they knew. By the One in Whose Hand is Muhammad's soul, no one endures its hardship and difficulty except that I will be a witness or intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, it expels its people as the bellows expels the impurities of iron. By the One in Whose Hand is Muhammad's soul, no one leaves it desiring something other than it except that Allah the Mighty and Sublime replaces him with someone better."
