حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ أَنْبِيَاءَهُمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَانْتَهُوا وَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِأَمْرٍ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ.
English Translation
Yahya narrated to us, from Ibn Ajlan, who said: I heard my father narrating from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Leave me as long as I leave you, for those before you were destroyed because of their excessive questioning of their prophets and their disagreement with them. When I forbid you from something, avoid it, and when I command you with something, do as much of it as you can."
