English Translation
Fazarah ibn Amr narrated to us, he said: Fulayh informed us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out on a military expedition and the Muslims ran out of provisions and were in need of food. They asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for permission to slaughter their camels, and he gave them permission. When Umar ibn al-Khattab heard about this, he came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, their camels carry them and take them to their enemy - they would slaughter them? Rather, O Messenger of Allah, call for the remains of their provisions and supplicate to Allah the Almighty for blessings in it.' He said: 'Yes.' So he called for the remains of the provisions, and the people brought what they had left. He gathered it, then supplicated to Allah the Almighty for blessings in it, and called for their containers and filled them, with much surplus remaining. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that I am the servant and messenger of Allah. Whoever meets Allah the Almighty with these two declarations without doubt shall enter Paradise.'
