English Translation
Qutaybah narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from al-Ala, meaning Ibn Abd al-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A person does not open upon himself a door of begging except that Allah opens upon him a door of poverty. It is better for a man to take his rope, go to the mountain, gather firewood on his back, and eat from that, than to ask people, whether he is given or refused."
